Wedding countdown

This is a general timetable to which we work.  There are occasions where some wedding couples aren’t so organised and we have been known to plan a wedding in 2 months!  If this is the case there is obviously a risk some of the more sought after venues/suppliers may be booked up, particularly in the summer months, but we can usually find a suitable alternative and still provide you with a stunning day.

12 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Work out budget
  • Work out rough number of guests
  • Confirm ceremony location & date
  • Book reception venue/caterer
  • Arrange wedding insurance

11 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Decide on guest list (liaise with parents)
  • Book photographer and/or videographer
  • Arrange DJ/band
  • Start trying on wedding dresses

10 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Choose attendants, best man and ushers
  • Order dress
  • Choose and order attendants’ outfits
  • Order wedding cake
  • Start planning honeymoon and book if married in high season

9 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Book florist
  • Decide on company for wedding gift list
  • Start making list of gifts
  • Confirm menu choice and reception drinks with supplier

8 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Talk to organist/musicians about ceremony music
  • Discuss choice of readings with minister/registrar
  • Order invitations/place cards/menus and seating plan

7 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Book bridal party transport

6 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Hire formalwear for groom and ushers/fathers
  • Choose presents for attendants etc
  • Choose wedding rings
  • Have orders of service printed

5 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Bride to apply to change name on formal documents (officiating minister/registrar to sign application forms)
  • Ensure have valid passports

4 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Buy going away and honeymoon clothes
  • Find out about visas and inoculations for honeymoon
  • Book first night hotel (if applicable)

3 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Make appointment with make-up artist
  • Make appointment with hairdresser
  • Book wedding rehearsal
  • Book taxis/bus for guests (if applicable)

2 MONTHS PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Send out invitations with maps and gift lists
  • Try on wedding outfit (incl underwear and accessories)

1 MONTH PRIOR TO WEDDING

  • Inform caterers/venue of final number of guests
  • Draw up seating plan
  • Order honeymoon currency and travellers cheques
  • Visit hairdresser to try out hairstyles with veil and tiara
  • Draw up list of shots for photographer
  • Have hen and stag nights
